on the lives of these citizens the state of North Carolina.
We are:
--Your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers.
--Consumers, providers, and professionals.
--Individuals and organizations working in partnership to protect
the rights of our fellow North Carolinians living with mental illness,
developmental disabilities, and the disease of addiction.
We believe that:
--People with disabilities have the same basic needs as all North
Carolinians. We all have the right to education, jobs, transportation,
and other necessary supports. We all have the right to dignity.
--Quality services for individuals with disabilities have a direct,
positive impact not only on the individuals served, but also on
the communities that make up the state of North Carolina. Quality
services make good business sense.
--Ongoing state commitment and innovative planned development of
an adequate spectrum of state and local services are essential to
an effective system of services for individuals with disabilities.
We work to ensure that the state of North Carolina provides the
necessary supports individuals with disabilities need to strive
for economic and social independence.
